Prof. Bryan T. Adey and Hossein Nasrazadani presented at the Meet and Share your Research Day 2022!

On 26 October, the Association of Scientific Staff of the D-BAUG invited all students, researchers and professors to the annual meeting of the department. Selected case studies were used to show how engineering research at D-BAUG contributes in many ways to addressing societal and global challenges. The keynote lectures were given by Professors Bryan Adey and Adrienne Grêt-Regamey.

Hossein Nasrazadani presented on the topic "Modeling and evaluating interventions to improve the resilience of infrastructure systems against climate-induced hazards". In this work, he presented a methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of resilience of enhancing interventions through simulation of multiple stochastic scenarios. The proposed approach was showcased through application to a case study of a transport network in Switzerland subject to heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides. To enhance the resilience, three candidate flood protection walls were evaluated and insights into their effectiveness on improving resilience were provided. The proposed methodology serves as a decision support tool to facilitate the assessment and hence, planning of resilience enhancing interventions in an effective way. Prof. Dr. Bryan T. Adey's presentation topic was entitled "Exploiting digitalisation to develop intervention programs efficiently and effectively".
