Marco Zumstein is awarded the SIA FEB Auszeichnung 2021 for his Master Thesis
The 2021 SIA Award from the Fachgruppe für die Erhaltung von Bauwerken (FEB) goes to Marco Zumstein for his Master's Thesis, "Future Refurbishment Processes of Highway Bridges Using the Prototype of a New Mobile Modular Ramp System."
The Astra Bridge is a 236m long wheeled steel structure under development that allows traffic to pass vertically over a construction site to the road reconstruction. Marco Zumstein was given the opportunity to conduct the first scientific investigation on the Astra Bridge in close collaboration with Astra as part of his master's thesis. Using newly created construction processes in various scenarios, he was able to demonstrate that the reconstruction of short highway bridges can also be accelerated with the Astra Bridge and that social costs can be significantly reduced. The work was supervised by Dr. Qian Chen.
Marco Zumstein will receive his award at the award ceremony in July 2021.
