PhD candidate David Zani presents at the IAEA Workshop on Funding for Long Term Nuclear Liabilities
PhD candidate David Zani presented the work of Prof. Bryan Adey’s Chair of Infrastructure Management on Reference Class Forecasting at this week’s IAEA Workshop on Funding for Long Term Nuclear Liabilities.
In collaboration with colleagues from external page Vattenfall, this work proposed a way to create the best possible reference classes for use in nuclear decommissioning and waste disposal programs, where historical data is often scarce or entirely unavailable. Several of the presentations at the workshop highlighted the difficulty in dealing with this lack of data. Applying the best-possible methods to make early cost estimates is essential to informing decision-makers involved in the programs for long term nuclear liabilities. Special thanks (and photo credit) to external page Simon Carroll for the invitation to speak and for co-organizing the workshop.
