The ICRC project team from ETH Zurich presents the first results at the ICRC-Headquarters in Geneva!

Prof. Bryan Adey's Chair of Infrastructure Management, with post doctoral student Rossella Marmo, is part of the research-to-impact project "Building Resilience in Health Infrastructure" bringing together the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC and several Chairs from ETH Zurich and the EPFL in Lausanne. The team met at the International Red Cross Headquarters in Geneva on 6 March 2023 to present and discuss the first results.

Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut

The project aims to support the ICRC in creating a resilience strategy for health infrastructure in conflict-affected settings and to develop interventions to enhance health service outcomes in the short and long term. The project will use the Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon as a case study.

It is a collaboration between ETH Zurich and International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC and builds upon multiple disciplines within ETH (earthquake engineering, infrastructure management, urban planning and policy) as well as within ICRC (bridging doctors and health workers with civil engineers experts). It is supported by external experts: Mayssa Dabaghi at American University of Beirut (for local context and earthquake risk assessment) and Bianca Pagella and Markus Neuber at ALN Architekturbüro (for hospital architecture planning and design).
