Hossein Nasrazadani presents at the 60th ESReDA Conference in Grenoble, France

The 60th ESReDA (European Safety, Reliability & Data Association) seminar entitled "Advances in Modelling to Improve Network Resilience" was held in Grenoble, France on 4-5 May 2022. One of this year's presentations was held by Hossein Nasrazadani, PhD student at the chair of Prof. Dr. Bryan Adey, and was entitled: "A Simulation Approach for Evaluating Interventions to Improve the Resilience of Transport Networks Against Climate-Induced Hazards".

In this work, a simulation approach was developed for quantitative assessment of the effect of interventions in improving the resilience of infrastructure networks subject to climatic hazards, including heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides. It features a set of interacting probabilistic models, each representing part(s) of the system, i.e., hazards, physical and functional performance of infrastructure networks, and direct and indirect consequences. This allows for considering the uncertain spatiotemporal evolution of climatic hazards and infrastructure networks in evaluation of interventions. The proposed approach serves as a decision support tool for infrastructure managers by providing them with a thorough and quantitative evaluation of interventions to better plan and allocate resources.

The Infrastructure Management Group mission is to improve the construction and management of infrastructure. For more information visit our webpage
